Have you ever joined a discord group and the chat is moving so fast that it looks like words are flying off the screen and the little bits you are able to catch are words you don’t understand?
This was my experience when I started my journey, I would have to just throw questions all day about what certain words meant and just like throwing a wish into the universe, some of my questions were answered and some of them weren’t.
After a while, I started developing a sixth sense regarding the context these words were used and over time it all began to make sense. I’ll be honest, these words are fun to know, so fun that they sometimes slip out in my regular day-to-day convos.
If you want to know how to use these words in your day-to-day, chatting in discords, or just know them for the sake of knowing, I will share with you the NFT lingo you’re most likely going to come across in any community and their meaning.
1. WAGMI/WGMI - WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT
Usually said to motivate the troops. You’re most likely going to come across this the most during moments of hype or when someone delivers some bad news. You can even say this to motivate yourself.
E.g. “Guys a project I was in just got rugged but WAGMI regardless“
2. ALPHA - good knowledge/ information shared by someone regarding any subject.
Usually, it’s some info uncommonly known, regarding crypto or NFTs. Some communities usually dedicate a channel to this for holders to share “alpha” with each other so look out for these channels and constantly visit them because you may come across your next best project.
E.g. “Hey man, I have some alpha for you. Did you know that the thugsteadz collection is having a stealth mint going on right now?”
3. SHILL - PROMOTE
When you shill or are shilling, you’re promoting yourself, a product, or a project. Shilling is very important and projects always dedicate a channel to it because this is how alphas get passed around the community and if you’re bullish on a project you shill the heck out of a project
E.g “Guys no shilling in general chat”
4. BOOLISH/BULLISH - to believe in
When you believe in a project’s success so much you can barely contain your excitement, you are boolish on that project.

5. DEGEN - Degenerate
You are a degen when you’re being impulsive on a project and not researching because you heard about it from a friend. In some circles being degens is a term of endearment.
E.g “Guys, what’s is the next degen play?”
6. GG - GOOD GAME
Saying this is a shrug in bad times or congratulations in good times.
E.g “I was really rugged, wow gg tho” or “GG everyone we just sold out”
7. DYOR - DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH
This is usually said when shilling other projects and its a rule of thumb.
E.g These guys are minting soon join their discord DYOR.”
8. NFA - NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE
9. WEN MINT - When is the mint for the project
This is pretty self-explanatory but it’s also a way of saying when anything.
E.g. “wen lambo” or “Wen moon”
10. RUGPULL/RUGGED - SCAM
When a project is rugged or has a rugpull warning going around, it means that the project was a scam or it is highly advised to stay away from that project.

11. DOXXED - VERIFIED/REVEALED
When you see this word it refers to a person’s identity. It asks the question “Is this person anonymous or not?”

12. FUD - FEAR UNCERTAINTY DOUBT
This usually means spreading negativity about a project or a person. It also means spreading negativity in general.

It gets easier to understand and use these terms while on your NFT journey and more terms and slang are being created and used every day. If you see or hear a new term you don’t know, feel free to comment below and ask the community but I would also highly recommend subscribing to the newsletter to get updates and in-depth breakdowns on issues and subjects I find interesting. Stay tuned.
